2012 Preview - The Sun Belt

These guys are getting used to having three teams dancing in June and getting their respect as one of the top mid-majors in the land. Tough. Gritty. Uncompromising. The SBC needs all the first aid kits it can use, for both itself and certainly for its ailing, limping opponents.

    HOW THEY'LL FINISH IN 2012:

    - The Sun Belt Conference.

    1- Troy
    2- Florida International
    3- Western Kentucky
    4- Louisiana
    5- Florida Atlantic
    6- UL-Monroe
    7- Arkansas State
    8- Middle Tennessee
    9- South Alabama
    10- Arkansas-Little Rock

The Cajuns will play 27 home games this year, including some tough tasks in hosting Sun Belt favorites like FIU, Troy and Western Kentucky. But they'll also have some early tests that could be tough obstacles when they travel to Texas in the opening weekend where they'll take on Wichita State, Santa Clara and Texas State in the Bobcat Classic in San Marcos. Then, in week three they'll mosey over to San Antonio to take on Gonzaga, Kansas and Texas-San Antonio in the UTSA Classic. And after that comes one of my favorite non-conference series of the last few years as Southern Miss comes to Tigue Moore Field for a three-game set.

Just one more example of why that darn thing should be consigned to mascot compost heap.

Haha, knew the peppers would be brought up. Peppa Pit should love him. Same thing every year, but Sorenson's a good dude. He covered the Rice game at the Tigue last year on his blog and as I've mentioned, always calls us Louisiana on his national blog.

Only 1 "potential all conference" player? For the projected 4th place team??? No other team has less than 3. Most have 4 or 5. Kinda reminds me of the preseason football all conference team. And we know how that worked out. Add that to the softball snub, and I'm beginning to think the SBC doesn't like us too much! Hmmmmm ...

Could be worse. You could have the returning conference pitcher of the year not make the preseason all conference team......................never mind.
